Privacy Policy
Benchship ("we", "us") is an order-verification tool for people who pack and ship their own orders. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. We've tried to keep it in plain language.
What we collect
- Your account. The email address, brand or workspace name, and password you provide when you sign up. Passwords are never stored in plain text; we keep only a salted scrypt hash.
- Your order data. When you connect a Shopify store or import a CSV, we store the order details we need to build your pack lists: order numbers, customer names, shipping addresses, line items, SKUs, tracking numbers, and fulfillment status.
- Proof photos. Any photos you capture while packing, which we store so you can prove what went in the box.
- Technical data. A single login cookie to keep you signed in, and basic server logs (including IP address) used to keep the service secure and rate-limit abuse.
How we use it
We use your data only to run the service for you: showing what to pack, recording what you packed, storing your proof photos, and (when you connect Shopify) syncing your orders and writing back fulfillment and tags. We do not sell your data or your customers' data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Shopify
When you connect your store, we access the orders, products, inventory, and fulfillment information covered by the permissions you grant during install, and we write fulfillments and tags back to orders you pack. You can disconnect at any time by uninstalling Benchship from your Shopify admin or disconnecting in Settings, which stops all syncing.
Your customers' data
Order and shipping information includes your customers' personal details. For that data you are the controller and Benchship is a processor: we hold and process it only to provide packing and fulfillment features to you. You are responsible for having the right to share it with us and for meeting your own obligations to your customers.
Where it's stored and how it's protected
Data is stored on our hosting provider's servers (Render) on a persistent disk. Passwords are hashed, proof photos are served only to the account that created them, and the Shopify connection is verified on every request. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. If you want your account and its data deleted, contact us and we'll remove it. Pack records are retained so your history stays intact until you ask otherwise.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie (bs_session) to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
Children
Benchship is a tool for businesses and isn't directed at anyone under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
